Air Cushion Vehicle

Air cushion vehicles are aerostatic vessels supported by pressurized air. Three principle arrangements;

  • Plenum Chamber: Central duct(s) pressurize a plenum (skirt)
  • Peripheral Jet: Ducts are set about the edge of the hull
  • Sidewall: The hull skirts extend below the water surface, entrapping the pressurized air.
