Bollard

A bollard is a short post used to moor a vessel. Bollards are typically constructed of steel, wood or stone and may have an hourglass profile or horns to keep mooring lines from sliding off the top during tidal movements. Double bollards are known as bitts, allowing for 'figure-eight' wrapping of ropes or hawsers.
