Cargo Hold

A ships cargo hold is a space designated for the carrying of cargo. A cargo ship of any length will have a number of holds, broken by the requirements of subdivision bulkheads and the use of tween decks. Modern hatchless container ships may have only a single open hold, broken as required by movable tween deck and bulkhead sections. A ships cargo hold is measured in TEU, grain capacity and/or bale capacity.
