Ceiling

Ceiling in a ship consists of wooden planks used to protect decks from wear & tear damage from cargo. They also serve to increase circulation in the cargo hold, and prevent damage from lifting devices, condensation, or movement. Ceilings will also be used between cargoes, or as a lining along frames, to help brace the cargoes (sometimes known as spar ceilings). Ceiling material which is disposed of in the port of call may be considered as an environmental concern.
