Double Hull

An example of a double hull

A double hull or double-hulled vessel is one which is predominately double sided and double bottomed, effectively forming a second watertight hull inside of the side shell. Double hulled vessels may still retain single hull construction through some compartments, such as in fore and aft peak compartments or thruster rooms, where the shape of the hull makes construction and access difficult.
