Downflooding Loop

A downflooding loop is a loop in machinery piping which raises a section of the piping as far above the waterline as practicable. This prevents back-flooding of the system (downflooding) when a positive pressure cannot be maintained. In relation to wet exhausts, it is often referred to as the gooseneck.
