Dry Dock

A dry dock is a means of taking a vessel out of the water so that it can be maintained or repaired. The vessel is typically floated in, aligned over keel blocks, and the dock pumped dry (see Drydocking).

Dry Dock Facilities

There are different types of drydocking facilities, the more traditional that involve the pumping of water away from the ship and the newer that provide some means of lifting the vessel out of the water.
