Fatigue

Fatigue is a method of failure caused by cyclical loading of a material above it's fatigue limit. Increased load cycle counts tend to decrease the stress level at which a material will fail logarithmically - the plot of stress (S) vs. cycles (N) is known as an SN curve (and will vary with material). Fatigue can cause failure of a member below its yield stress, sometimes well below its ultimate stress.
