Malaccamax

Malaccamax refers to ships designed to meet the draught restrictions of the Straight of Malacca. These ships are typically bulkers and tankers - while container vessel concepts have been designed, it has been estimated that such a vessel meeting breadth, draught, and hull strength requirements would be 30 containers across - too wide to unload at any of the worlds ports. Additional concerns limiting the viability of this size of vessel are the increasing congestion of the area and the danger of piracy.
