The Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (MUN), located in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, offers undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in Ocean and Naval Engineering. In addition, graduates of the Marine Institute can upgrade their diploma of technology in naval architecture to a bachelor of technology or bachelor of maritime studies by completing a bridging program. Formally, advanced placement was also offered into the ocean and naval engineering program (for Marine Institute and Institut Maritime de Québec students), removing one year from the degree requirement, however with a recently restructured engineering program and low enrollment, the status of this transfer is currently in limbo.
An additional 39 credit hours, including a thesis, are required for diploma students to recieve a bachelor of technology. All courses are available through distance, and may be taken part-time or full-time. The completion time is aproximately one year for full-time students.
