Nanhai II

The Nanhai II (Nanhai 2) is an Aker H3 semisubmerisble drill rig currently owned by CNOOC Service Ltd (COSL). It was built in 1974 in Oslo, Norway and aquired by COSL in 1978 (previous names and DNV entry unknown). It currently operates in the South China Sea.

  • Drilling Derrick: Continental Emsco (49m H x 12m square), 412,000kg capacity
  • Rotary Table: CEDT-4950, 170,000lb static capacity, 800 hp GE electric motor
  • Top Drive: Varco TDS-3S
  • BOP: Cameron 18 3/4", 10,000 psi
  • Cranes: 1 x 40t @ 13m, 40m reach
  • Moorage: 8 x Vicinay 14 tonne anchors, 3" chain

  • 2006 - Contracted off coast of Indonesia[1]
  • 200(5?) - Shekou Yiulian yard gives mid-life refit: 40km of cabling, generator overhaul, and paint systems. Conducted under auspices of DNV & CCS.[2]
  • 1999 - Last drydocking, in Hong Kong
