A patrol boat is a class of vessel used for monitoring, defense and interdiction activities of coastal and near-coastal waters. Patrol vessels are generally smaller boats, often the smallest vessels of a Navy or civilian authority capable of open-water (blue water) operations.

- General arrangement will generally include a weapons locker and secure lock-up capabilities
- Radar, communications and optical systems for long-distance observation & airborne liaison
