Patrol Boat

A patrol boat is a class of vessel used for monitoring, defense and interdiction activities of coastal and near-coastal waters. Patrol vessels are generally smaller boats, often the smallest vessels of a Navy or civilian authority capable of open-water (blue water) operations.

Design Characteristics

  • Generally high-speed, often planing or with combined propulsion units
  • General arrangement will generally include a weapons locker and secure lock-up capabilities
  • Radar, communications and optical systems for long-distance observation & airborne liaison
