Port State

Port state regulations or port state controls are regulations which foreign ships are subject to when visiting a nations ports. For the most part, these regulations are limited to international conventions, such as those dictated by the IMO. Enforcement of port state regulations, while done locally, is generally co-ordinated by regional bodies in order to prevent undue delays in shipping.
